CCTV System

Sibelco

Sibelco is an international industrial minerals company, who celebrated their 150-year anniversary in 2022.

Their King’s Lynn site produces silica which is used mainly for construction, sports and leisure, and agriculture industries.

Given the nature of the work that is carried out at this site and its location, health and safety is paramount. One of the client’s key tools in managing health and safety on site is via their CCTV system.

CTS Security were invited to upgrade the existing CCTV system, which comprised of a mixture of HD analogue and IP cameras. In addition, we were asked to supply and install seven IP cameras, two of which are PTZ cameras which view the weighbridge area.

Given the nature of the site, several of the IP cameras are linked to the Control Room using outdoor point to point devices, creating a wireless bridge. This essentially allows wireless connectivity from “remote” cameras to the Control Room without the need to install cables.

CTS installed a segregated network including High Resolution IP cameras, POE switches, Network Video Recorder, Data Cabinets, Monitors, and a UK manufactured Secure Logiq 24Tb server, sited in the control room.

The Video Management System for this project is Avigilon ACC7. ACC7 efficiently captures and stores HD video, while intelligently managing bandwidth and storage using patented High Definition Stream Management (HDSM) technology.

The CCTV upgrade CTS have installed for us has transformed the way we are able to manage the site. The Avigilon system has dramatically reduced the amount of time we had to spend interrogating the older analogue recorded data. With safety being paramount at an industrial quarry, it is vital to have high quality, easily accessible recorded videos and images that you can access at any time – what CTS have provided does this with ease. Customer queriers such as incorrect product loaded or contamination can easily be traced within minutes. The live view from the cameras lets our operators simply glance through production areas without having to leave the control room, reducing the unnecessary risk of slips/falls and manual handing. CTS have also been able to add multiple new cameras over time into the system as a simple plug-and-play option, this never seems to be an issue. The aftercare has always been extremely helpful – a number of staff are always on standby to come out to site the same day if there has been an issue.
