We chose CTS to maintain our CCTV system because they were already providing a great service in maintaining our burglar and fire alarm systems. They give excellent value for money.Steward Bunting, Business Manager
The existing IP CCTV System, although only a few years old, was unable to provide the clarity and search functionality the school required.
CTS Security invited the school Business Manager, Steward Bunting and IT Manager, Simon Anderson to their offices in King’s Lynn to demonstrate the latest in High Definition CCTV.
They were blown away by Avigilon’s High Definition Stream Management (HDSM) technology which manages to preserve complete image integrity through visually lossless compression. In layman’s terms this means no degradation or loss of quality when viewing recorded footage – what you see live is what you see on playback. This coupled with Avigilon’s broad range of megapixel cameras gives superior quality and maximum coverage.
The ability to quickly and easily search through vast amounts of high definition footage and then also identify individual pupils or transgressions is what sold the system.
CTS were immediately instructed to conduct a site survey and identify vulnerable areas where the introduction of megapixel cameras could reduce risk and increase pupil safety.
The initial brief was to utilise the existing thirty Panasonic IP cameras (mixture of PTZ’s and statics) and to supply and install a 27Tb dedicated server with Avigilon Standard software (the school requires 6 weeks recording data). Two Avigilon 5MP Bullet cameras with Infra – Red was installed at the front and rear entrances.
The school was so impressed with the quality of the 5MP bullet cameras that in less than six months from installing the Avigilon platform, we replaced all the existing external Panasonic IP cameras for a mixture of 5MP and 2MP cameras. We then replaced the remaining internal Panasonic cameras with Avigilon cameras.
There are 36 X 2MP cameras and 16 x 5MP cameras, 3 x dedicated servers with a total of 69Tb.
We have recently updated our CCTV cameras and software for the whole site and chose the Avigilon system because of the ease of use and clarity of picture. It is now much simpler to search for any incidents that may happen and the clarity of picture makes recognition of individuals much easier.Steward Bunting, Business Manager
